~ Self-Confessed Shopaholic

It's a given that your average female will feel a high of excitement when a brand new, much loved purchase is made. Whether it be a shopping trip to Sephora for whimsical colours of eye shadows and lipsticks or a drop dead gorgeous dress you find on-sale at Marciano, the rush of excitement is all the same...
That feeling of anticipation walking up to the till...
heart beating faster...
card swiped...
peering through slightly squinted eyes...
all in the hopes of seeing that oh so loved word, APPROVED!

Sashaying down the sidewalk with your shopping bags in hand, nothing can take that moment away from you... Even if its just one small bag or many, you'll hold your head a little bit higher and lead your path with a little more gusto because you, little ol'you just purchased a momentary slice of happiness... Arriving home you rush to your favorite spot and gently (or frantically) open your self-purchased presents. One by one you lay each piece out, admiring it, fawning over it, smiling because of it.... It's a satisfaction that not even a man can give you, the unmistakeably desirable satisfaction of a lusted after purchase that you can now call your very own...
This spectacular high is so very fleeting, the purchases end up melting into the depths of your closet and before you know it you are searching out, longing for, obsessing over your next high, that one item that will once again bring you that coveted feeling of satisfaction.
You may even tell yourself that you do not need anything more, you are satisfied. You feel strong and empowered by your privately made declaration; 'I have no need to purchase anything else!'... for a brief passing of time it lasts... but then that moment soon comes when you are looking through your closet and you mutter to yourself those all-so-famous words, "I have nothing to wear..." And then, the hunt begins again. The build up of searching, perusing, trying things on, all because you are craving that feeling...
When that dress falls ever so perfectly over your body and hugs your curves ever so nicely... the tingle of undeniable indulgence builds up inside of you.
The girl in the mirror that is now peeking back at you, she appears to be so much more refined, so much more desirable, she is that girl you need to be...
At the point of retail intoxication, the blood is rushing through your veins, you have found your next high. Your worries have drifted away, your limbs are feeling weightless, it is as though you have entered a materialistic twilight zone... and its just you and the dress and the image of that girl, the image of a perfection that is finally within reach... She can be bought ever so easily with the swipe of your card...

Until next time my sweets, I will be thinking, craving, anticipating the moment when that high can be reached once again...
