~ Dark Day in Vancouver's History

Time had ran out...
Hearts sank...
Still proud of our boys...
Then mayhem struck...
2 Police cars set on fire by idiotic individuals
Walking out of the Commodore Ballroom onto Granville Street just minutes after the devastating loss, you could see the empty looks on peoples faces, sad that their dreams had been dashed... Realizing that it wouldn’t be the smartest idea to stick around “Munky” and I started saying our good-byes to our friends. Only a couple of minutes had past, the bars started to empty out, and you could now sense a dramatic shift in mood among the patrons... At seeing this we all agreed to go straight home, we had no desire to get caught up in the ‘who knows what could happen’.
Once we got back to our apartment we turned on the news, images started pouring in of crazed individuals making a mess of our city. No longer was our mind on the hard fought game instead it was strictly focused on the mayhem that had befallen our beautiful Vancouver. I cannot express in words my absolute disappointment with what I was seeing. Individuals vandalizing and burning cars, garbage cans, and porta-potties... Fights erupting between fans, between fans and police officers... Windows being smashed, planters being destroyed, stores being looted... These are the types of things you see in the movies not outside your front door.
The site of the Community Centre in front of our place getting newspaper bins thrown through its windows, riot police marching down the street towards our building with a loud speaker informing the crowd to disperse within one minute was completely surreal. I was overcome with a feeling of utter helplessness, I just wanted to scream at these people. At one point I actually got worried that these nutcases may start to break the windows in our building. As I sat there glued to the television seeing the faces of these people behaving like morons I could not help but wonder, “what is your mother going to think when she sees her sons face plastered all over the news for behaving like an idiotic criminal?” Do these rioters have no conscience? Do they not think that they are going to get caught? As I always say it all comes down to respect, and in this case the lack there of. These idiots do not respect themselves so by no means are they going to respect the beautiful city we call home or its citizens.
And just to make it clear, these WERE NOT TRUE VANCOUVER CANUCKS FANS!!! These were degenerate, ridiculous excuses for human beings with the soul intention of causing destruction. No fan comes prepared with Molotov-cocktails and black ski masks to watch a hockey game. These malicious intentions along with the drunk individuals caught up in the action (thinking it funny to see such mayhem) turned the city into a war zone. Thanks to these individuals our city has been tarnished, our game has been tarnished and our reputation as Canadians has been tarnished. It is the actions of a select few cheered on by many that has now turned June 15, 2011 into a dark day in Vancouver’s history....

My final words are:
I hope you idiots all get caught,
I hope you idiots all get fined,
I hope you idiots all get sentenced,
I hope you idiots all get paraded through the downtown centre on a chain gang so you can be shamed.

~ Chic Trend – Cropped Pants

Now that Vancouver is finally warming up and the rain clouds are slowly drifting away I have noticed a very fashionable trend appearing on the lovely woman of Vancouver.

When worn appropriately these crops can be a very classy, chic and elegant twist on your basic work pant, summer pant or dress pant. Along with the trendy crop pant is the brightly coloured crops. We are all aware that coloured pants have hit the streets with a big splash this season. Pink, tangerine, aqua blue, green, yellow any colour from pastel to neon is hot, hot, hot right now!

Elegant Crops:
A new twist on evening wear. If you don’t feel like a skirt/dress but don’t want to head out on the town in pants (boring) throw on a pair of high wasted crops. A mixture of cotton and silk or even sateen will give a touch of elegance to your crops with a slight sheen. An evening look can be achieved with a crisp white or a muted pastel crop along with a one shoulder or halter top, paired with a strappy heel.

Business Crops:
When worn with a cute blazer/jacket or a gauzy blouse and paired with a kitten heel or a sleek pump, this look can give you a put-together sophistication. There is nothing more appealing than a confident female looking stunning in business attire.

Coloured Crops:
Making my favourite trend even better is the coloured crops. I love colour and to be able to transition colour from your choice of top to your choice of pants gives us girls an even broader choice of wardrobe! My only suggestion for coloured crops is to be aware of the cut and the colour. If god has blessed you with a fuller figure then bright neon blue spandex crops are going to draw the wrong type of attention. Instead, go for a more subtle tone of colour in a good fit (not too tight, not too loose) that compliments your curves.

Casual Crops:
For grocery shopping, coffee with your bff, or strolls through the park, these comfortable crops can be worn for a more casual appearance. To achieve that easy-breezy look pair your casual crops with a white v-neck t-shirt and some gladiator sandals. For evening throw on a multi-strand necklace and some slingbacks and you will be ready for a wine night with the girls!

Slouchy Crops (Harem pants):
Personally I am not a fan of the slouchy, baggy crops. Yes, I will admit some girls can pull it off and look fabulous, but for the most part I find the look to be somewhat dishevelled.
